Thinking about Medea

If you wish to watch it there are several versions on YouTube.
Medea raises a lot of interesting questions. Place yourself in the shoes of an Athenian of the day. According to law the children belong to Jason. Also Medea is an outsider, from another country, and worse she is a witch (worshiper of Hecate). Although we cannot be certain, we can guess that the Athenians would have hated Medea by the end of the play. Scholars believe that her killing her children was something Euripides added to her story. It therefore would have been new and shocking.
Answer the following questions:
1. What is the conflict? In other words what is the dramatic question: the problem to be solved in the play. How does that influence Medea and her actions?
2. What is the "reversal" or change for the worse that Medea suffers in the play? Also, does Medea have a tragic flaw, something about her character that leads to the tragedy at the end? Defend your answer with examples from the play.
3. So what do you think Euripides was trying to say with his play and its new addition to Medeas' story? In other words what is the theme of the play? Use examples from the play to support your ideas.
