A train car with mass 14000 kg and another with a mass of 24000 kg have a spring to soften the collision that occurs when the two are coupled.

The lighter car is moving at 1.8 m/s and it runs into the other car, that is at rest. When the spring is FULLY compressed, the two cars are linked.

The spring constant is 53000 N/m.
