Suppose as a consultant you design Quality Control systems for manufacturing companies.

The ABC Company operates assembly plants in 8 different states. You want to submit bid for a project involving design of Quality Control system for each of 8 assembly plants of the ABC Company. To estimate the costs for bidding, you have decided to use past data.

From historical data you know that for this contract, the effort will be substantial, running 80 hours for the first plant. The published data indicates that for this types of projects, a learning rate of 0.82% is the most appropriate.

Suppose, your billing rate (cost of doing the work by a consultant) is $100/hour and the overhead is expected to run a fixed $800 per plant. If your nominal profit margin is 15% determine:

a). The total bid price.

b). If customer decides to pay you a fixed amount ($X) after work in each plant is completed, determine X

c). On how many plants must project work be completed before you break-even (i.e., Cumulative cost = Cumulative Revenue)
