1. Two examples of neoliberal practices or policies that are shown in the Poor No More documentary. Carefully reviewed the lesson on poverty referring to specific components of this concept from the lesson.
2. Reflect on the documentary. In your opinion, what were the most important points, or what was the most important thing that you learned? Describe what you think the film's overall message was, and whether it communicated it effectively. What part of the film made the biggest impact on you, and what part of the film was the most important message you learned? Were there any stories/situations that had an impact on you? How will the information from this film impact you as an early childhood educator?
3. What is the Canadian Council of Chief Executives? Describe 2 concerns/issues about the Canadian Council of Chief Executives (now called the Business Council of Canada) identified in the video.
4. Summarize what you learned about economic practices in Ireland and Sweden. Describe the main points made by one of the professionals interviewed from Ireland (e.g. John Douglas, Shane Kelley) and one of the professionals from Sweden (e.g. Hans-Ake Danielsson, Ylva Johansson). You may wish to discuss these countries' approaches to unions, taxes, childcare, education, wages, sick leave, etc. In your opinion, are there any practices or policies from Ireland or Sweden that you think would benefit Canada?
