Assignment: MOVIE TIME!

Assignment: All of the movies listed below deal with the financial crisis (or in a couple instances, closely related matters). Some are popular films, others documentaries, yet others are critiques. Some discuss housing, many focus on Wall Street, others on the aftermath of the crash. Some are fair, others are intended to be provocative.

Choose one of the movies below, preferably one you have not previously seen. You might want to do a search on some of them to see what they involve and pick one that sounds interesting to you. Then watch it and write a short paper-no more than 5 double-spaced pages-that addresses the following questions:

(1) What is the broad subject of the movie? Give a brief summary. What is its key take-away?

(2) From your understanding of the financial crisis, does it present events and issues accurately? If not, what does it present incorrectly or incompletely?

(3) Is it effective and convincing as a portrayal of events, or does it seem contrived or unrealistic? If effective, what makes it so? If not, why does it not succeed? Would it be convincing to someone not familiar with the financial crisis?

(4) How may stars would you give it? Would you recommend it?
