IV. THE OPPORTUNITY - YOURS (short essay 350 words max, 40 points)

Remember the question I asked all of you the day I took over the BADM 1040 class - Why should I hire you?

Now imagine that you have a chance to do another elevator pitch - and if you succeed, the rewards could be huge.

Parag Khanna is looking for 5 (paid) interns to work for him next summer. Total compensation for the three month period be will $12,000. These interns will accompany Khanna on a new trend-finding trip - to 12 countries in three regions of the world: Africa, Asia and Latin America. All travel and hotel expenses will be paid, with a $40/day per diem included. Khanna's looking for hard workers who bring great analytical and critical skills, are very inquisitive and self-motivated. Interns will likely be working 50-70 hours per week while on the road and their work product will eventually be bundled into a large think piece that Khanna will be submitting to his corporate (multi-national) clients. So having a high-quality team is a must. Interns who perform well could be offered a full-time position with Khanna's consulting firm upon graduation, with the opportunity to work for two years in a region of their choosing, at a starting salary of $55,000.

All of my BADM students are required to pitch Khanna for this opportunity. He will be particularly interested in your actual level of participation in the BADM course during the semester. Did you attend class regularly? Did you actively participate in class? Were you attentive? Did you read and come to class prepared? Note that Khanna and I will be conferring after he hears from each of you, so your honesty and integrity will be as important as the quality of your pitch.

Khanna is also open-minded. So, if you are a student who knows that your level of participation was not what it could/should have been, say that. But make the case that Khanna should consider you for an internship anyway. You never know what can happen.
