Question: Your patient is a 6-year-old female who was improperly restrained in an automobile collision. She has abnormal vital signs and is responsive to painful stimuli only. Her extremities are limp unless roused. Her pupils are dilated and sluggish. The patient's 36-year-old mother was the restrained driver and has a 5cm laceration superior to the right orbit. She remembers the incident, and her vital signs are all within normal limits. There is a level 2 trauma center 25 minutes away and a level 1 trauma and pediatric center 40 minutes away. Given this limited information, what is the BEST decision for the transport of these patients? Transport both the mother and daughter to the level 1 trauma and pediatric center. Transport the mother to the level 2 trauma center and the daughter to the level 1 trauma and pediatric center. Transport both the mother and daughter to the closest hospital.
