Question 3 (Write approximately 250 words). Study chapter 7 "Families, Kinship, and Marriage" lecture and watch "Multiple Husbands" documentary.

Compare and contrast the practice of polyandry in the Himalayas versus the form of marriage practiced in your own culture. Answer the following questions:

(a) Define the term polyandry. Then name and define the form of marriage practiced in your own culture.

(b) Discuss the two primary reasons why polyandry is practiced in the Himalayas.

What affect does it have on the culture? Then do the same for the form of marriage practiced in your own culture.

Question 4 (Write approximately 250 words). You may want to re-read chapter 3 "Doing Anthropology" and study your lecture notes associated with this chapter.

Imagine that you are an anthropologist, and you are investigating the following research question: How does the practice of courtship work among the Jarai people of Vietnam?

Assume you have the financial resources to travel to Vietnam to conduct your research.

How would you go about answering your research question? What three ethnographic techniques would you use? Describe what you would do as a researcher. Be as specific as possible.
