Question: You work for a private company that manufactures high end electronic test equipment. You are a union shop, meaning every employee is a union member as a requirement of their employment at this company. You haven't had a raise in six years and your health care costs per month has grown from $50 to $700 a month over the same period. Your wages are 20% below average for your industry and your health care costs are 40% higher that industry average but you are paid about average for the small town you live and work in.. There are no other union jobs in town but if employees want to drive 2 hours or move they can find wages higher that average. The union provides training for all new employees so no experience is required for 250 of the 350 positions.

Make a presentation to you managements negotiations team with the purpose of convincing them to raise wages and pay a higher percentage of the health care costs for union employees. What is the basis for you argument? what information with you include?
