Questions:
1. What are the title and author(s) of your book? What is the background of the authors (i.e., are they parents, teachers, or physicians)?
2. What age range is suggested for your book (may need to look on amazon.com)? Is it meant for a particular population of children?
3. What is your book about? What topics are covered? Summarize and use own words - don't just read the table of contents.
4. How is the book meant to be used? Does your book have a "Note to Parents" section at the front or back to suggest that parents and children read the book together, or is the book meant to be handed over to the child/teen? Explain your response.
5. Read the reviews for your book on amazon.com. Are the reviews mostly positive, mostly negative, or mixed? What do people like or not like about the book? Be sure to look at the occasional terrible review - what do these reviews reveal about society's feelings about loss, trauma, or resilience? Quote 2-3 of the reviews in your paper/presentation.
6. Select a few quotes or sections of the book that you think are particularly useful, funny, interesting, or controversial. Explain why you chose these pages to share. If giving a presentation, read a few sentences of text out loud and show a few illustrations.
7. Do you recommend the book? Could you see yourself reading this book or recommending it for a child you care about? Why or why not?
