1. Use the Credit Cards Data n=50 observations.xlsx dataset that is in Blackboard. It should have 50 observations. Save it onto a flash drive or desktop, or any storage device.
2. Use the following variables
a. Respondent is an identifier for each observation
b. Age is the age (in years) of each respondent
c. Classification is the class standing of each respondent
d. Major is the concentration or double/major of respondent
e. Lunch is the preferred payment method for a fast-food meal
f. Ipad/Ipod is the preferred payment method for a device
g. Computer is the preferred payment method for a computer
h. Rent is the preferred payment method for rental units
i. HDTV is the preferred payment method for purchasing a TV
j. New_Car is the preferred payment method for an auto
k. Section is whether the respondent is in the 1:30 or 4:30 class
3. Use Microsoft Excel, SAP Lumira, or follow these steps in SPSS:
1. Download the Credit Cards Data n=50 observations dataset from Blackboard.
2. Save the document
3. Start SPSS
4. Cancel out all opening templates. You should see a spreadsheet.
5. Click on File, Open, Data. Find the drop down menu.
6. Select Excel from the drop down menu.
7. Select the first worksheet.
8. Open the data into SPSS
9. Select Variable View
10. Observe to see that the decimal places are correct for the numeric data
11. Click on Analyze, Means for a table of averages.
12. Click on the Graphs Button, Click on Legacy Dialogs to draw bar charts, pie charts, etc.
13. For example, click on Histograms. Select the correct variable.
14. Click Continue or OK.
15. For each chart Click on Graphs, Click on Legacy Dialogs.
16. Use similar steps to answer the questions in SAP Lumira or Microsoft Excel. This assignment is worth 30 points. Answer the following questions in a Word document or in the comments section in Blackboard.
4. Make a table or visualization of the number of respondents in each class section by classification. (Suggestion: draw a histogram)
5. Make a table or visualization of the age of the respondents by major. (Suggestion: pie chart, area chart, or 3-D bar chart)
6. Make a table or visualization of the age of respondents by section (Suggestion: create a bar chart, line chart, pie chart or pyramid)
7. Rank order the ways to buy a car given by the respondents (Suggestion: draw a bar chart, pie chart or 3-D chart)
8. What is the average age of respondents buying lunch using cash? (Suggestion: generate a table of means, bar chart or pie chart)
9. Do computers, HDTVs, and Ipads/Ipods have the same preferred purchasing methods for these respondents? (Suggestion: calculate a table of means; or compare on a bar chart or pie chart)
10. Show in ranked order how most respondents pay for rent using a bar chart, pie charts, pyramid, or funnel chart.
