Problem

Chief complaint: Right hip pain after a fall at home. History of Present Illness: Patient is a 90-year-old female normally in good health presents to the hospital after a fall. She is here with her son who reports that this afternoon, his mother was using the bathroom when she fell on her right side, striking her hip on the floor. The patient did not hit her head and did not have any loss of consciousness but is unable to move her right leg. She denied any dizziness, chest pain, SOB, melena, weight loss or nausea. She reports no recent illnesses or exposures. She currently uses a cane to ambulate. She has no history of falling. In the emergency department she was diagnosed with a right intertrochanteric hip fracture and orthopedic surgery was consulted. The plan is for an operative repair in the morning. DISCHARGE DIAGNOSES: Closed intertrochanteric fracture of the right hip. Acute blood loss anemia. Hypertension - lisinopril 10 mg daily. BPs have been low and felt to be a result of the anemia.
