The office market of Metropolis is 5,000,000 square feet in total. At the end of the first quarter, 4,500,000 was occupied and 500,000 was vacant. At the end of the second quarter, a new building was being offered for rent at $25 per sq uare foot and they had 180,000 square feet to lease. A 40,000 square foot building was demolished due to a structural issue that could not be repaired. 200,000 square feet of new leas were signed. A large user moved their operations to Texas and as a result, 600,000 square feet was put up for sub-lease at $20 per square foot. What is the absorption, in es square feet, for the second quarter?
