Case Study: The final research paper should present a thoughtful comparative analysis of communities of African Descent in at least four different European countries (Germany, France, Spain, Netherlands) examined in this quarter. You may address each community broadly or specifically consider a thematic aspect of each community (e.g. arts, politics, organizations, etc.). The paper should be 10-12 pages (double-spaced) and, among other areas or themes of interest, address the following questions:

Question 1) What is the historical background regarding the presence of the African diaspora communities examined?

Question 2) What is the social and/or political context of Black identity or Blackness in the European countries examined?

Question 3) How do you relate the communities to issues and ideas brought forth in course readings, lectures, and media (films, news, websites, music, etc.) examined and presented throughout the quarter?

Question 4) What four specific themes do you identify across the communities in relation to areas such as gender, race, ethnicity, culture, migration, colonialism and/or national identity, etc.?
