Note that he argues that reciprocity and fairness are the 'pillars of morality', and that sentient creatures who exhibit an awareness of these two 'pillars' thereby exhibit a sense of morality. Next, create a discussion post in which you develop an argumentative response to the following: Do you think that the animals discussed here are actually exhibiting a sense of reciprocity and fairness, or would you describe their behavior in some other way? Cohen argues that membership in the moral community requires the ability to engage in abstract moral reasoning. De Waal thinks that it simply requires a sense of reciprocity and fairness.
