A 46-year-old male presents with recurrent asthmatic attacks and coughing for the past 10 years. The attacks are brought on by changes in the weather. He recently suffered a relapse for 2 weeks after a cold. He was short of breath and was unable to breathe while lying down. There was slight sweating, chills, and white, foamy and watery sputum. His appetite was poor, and his stools were unformed. The tongue was light red with a white, greasy coating. The pulse was submerged, slippery and frail. Auscultation revealed severe rhonchi and wheezing. Chest X-ray was normal.
