A population of 1200 farm workers, aged 40-55 years, was examined in February 2000. Of these workers, 800 were exposed to high levels of pesticide the rest were exposed to low levels of pesticide. At the physical examination, 230 cases of skin cancer were identified, including 185 cases among the high pesticide exposure group. All of the workers who were initially examined and did not have skin cancer were followed by repeat examinations over the next two years. These follow-up exams identified 175 new cases of skin cancer in the total group, including 25 cases among the low-exposure group.
