Assignment:
A 67 yo female came into your clinic complaining of fatigue, a low grade fever on and off for the last few weeks and recent onset of night sweats. She is also complaining of diffuse pain in ULQ but more posterior or on her back.
PMH: she is menopausal since 52yo. Night sweats stopped at age 53
You decide to run blood work a CBC with differential and these are the findings
RBC 3.5 (4.5 - 5.5)
WBC 90,000 (N: 3500 - 10500)
Neutrophils 10% (N: 40 - 60%)
Lymphocytes 86.5% (N: 20 - 40%)
Basophils .5% (N: .5 - 1%)
Monocytes 2% (N: 2-8%)
Eosinophils 1% (N: 1-4%)
Platelets 50,000 (N: 150,000- 450,000)
Other testing:
Peripheral smear is positive for Smudge cells
