Dimples (little indentations in the cheeks) are a recessive genetic trait (d). Therefore, no dimples is a dominant trait (D).

Imagine that a homozygous recessive female has 4 children with a heterozygous male. Using this scenario, answer the questions below.

1. What is the phenotype of the female? What is the phenotype of the male?

2. Can you draw a Punnet Square showing the genetic cross of the female and male, showing the outcome of the genotypic and phenotypic frequencies.

NOTE - you can do this digitally or you can draw it on paper, take a picture, and upload it below - please use JPEG or PNG or PDF, not HEIC format.

3. The couple had 4 children. All of them have dimples. Explain why this is possible given the genotypes found in your Punnet Square.
