Case Study: You are working in a medical-surgical unit and one of the nurses has been tasked with giving a unit of blood to one of the clients. The nurse has a religious belief that transfusions are wrong and does not want to give the unit of blood to the client. This situation has created an ethical dilemma for the nurse and the nurse is refusing to administer the unit of blood to her client.

Question: What is the nurse's accountability related to administering the unit of blood? Does the nurse have the right to deny the client a blood transfusion? Why or why not?
