Instructions

For chapter one's written homework, complete the following two questions from the end of the chapter. I also have some guidance for the assignment in a short video.

1) In the "What is Morality?" Chapter, the author provides an array of claims that he contends that he believes that many of us take for granted as moral starting points. (page 5 of both textbook editions) Did you find any of those to be particularly compelling or possibly surprising? Be specific and explain why you think so. If not, be sure to consider any starting moral assumptions that were not on the author's list and explain why you think that it should be among our starting assumptions.

2) After exploring the first introductory chapter of the text, consider and explain why you believe that a person ought to be moral. In order to do so, you may need to provide a brief account of what you believe that morality entails and then explain why you believe that individuals ought to be moral or at least take morality seriously.
