a) A 65 kg woman climbs the Washington monument (170 m) in 20 minutes. How much work did she do? What is her power output due to the work? Report in both Watts and horsepower (hp).

b) If her efficiency is 18%, how much food energy did she need to climb the Washington monument? Report in both Joules and Calories (kcal). What is her metabolic rate during the ascent? Report in Watts.

c) How much heat was transferred to the environment to keep her temperature constant? Report in Joules.

d) Suppose she is wearing a thick fleece sweatshirt, and 80% of the heat is transferred right back to her. Her body would compensate by sweating. However, if she can't sweat, then her core temperature would be raised. How much would her temperature be raised assuming she can't sweat? (Overall, this illustrates why we get warm when we exercise. To do work we can only use about 20% of our food calories and the rest gets converted to heat. To compensate, we take off layers and/or sweat.
