Question 2
What is meant by multidisciplinary care in medicine today? Describe the clinical and legal aspects of multidisciplinary patient care.
Question
This unit takes a look at legal issues which arise within the various allied health professions such as medical laboratory technology, pharmacy, physical therapy, respiratory therapy, emergency medical services (paramedics), podiatry, and others. Healthcare leaders need a broad understanding of all the allied health practitioners who will be caring for patients in their facilities, and that will be the focus of our discussion this week.
Select any one of the allied health professions of special interest to you, and share with the group an overview of the key legal issues which can occur in that field, providing specific examples. Your textbook does a good job of introducing these issues for each field, but you may also wish to look elsewhere to expand your understanding of these issues.
