Assignment Task: It should take the form of at least six clearly distinct paragraphs. One paragraph for each of the four numbered points below, except for question 3 which requires three paragraphs - one for each example.

Task 1: Demonstrate that you understand what is meant by environmental justice. Use the attached reading to guide your knowledge. Begin the paper with a paragraph defining what environmental justice is. Give some examples of what can be considered environmental justice issues.

Task 2: Read the two short newspaper articles regarding the creation of an environmental justice atlas. Identify the purpose of the atlas, and the types of groups responsible for creating it. Write a paragraph showcasing this information.

Task 3: Using the interactive map, available at ejatlas.org, identify three separate environmental justice issues ongoing anywhere in the world. The issues must be connected in some way, which you should justify. For these issues, you must make mention of:

What is the specific issue?
Who are the people causing the environmental problem, and who are demanding environmental justice?
What are the demands for environmental justice protestors being made, and by who. Is it possible for these to be reconciled with existing practices?
What connects these struggles (if anything)?

Task 4: Conclude your assignment with a paragraph summarizing your opinions of the Environmental Justice movement. Make mention of why you chose the specific issue you did, and whether you think these movements are an appropriate way to affect change and improve the environments in which people have to live.
