On the one hand, our textbook author, Cohen, seems to take it all in stride. It's just the "new" family situation. On the other hand, Kardiner ("The Modern Family" chapter from Sex and Morality, 1955) and Lasch ("The Sexual Division of Labor", from Women and the Common Life) are very critical of what's happening as a result of these factors.
