What is Isabella's Provisional DSM Diagnosis?
After reading the case study answer these questions..
- How a strength-based approach guided your treatment plan development

- How might a Christian worldview impact the development of your treatment plan?
Isabella is a 14-year-old Hispanic bisexual female who has come into Department of Child Safety (DCS) care due to neglect. Isabella's mother Martina is 35 years old, a single mother, has an upcoming eviction, and is currently abusing illegal substances. Isabella and Martina have a long history with DCS, wrought with claims of substance abuse, lack of basic needs, delinquent behavior, school truancy, and sexual exploitation.
Martina is not currently working and has a new cancer diagnosis that Isabella is aware of. Martina's mother, Guadalupe, lives in the area and is viewed as somewhat supportive. Guadalupe has offered to allow Martina to move in with her while navigating her new medical condition but has been clear that Isabella cannot live with them. Isabella has disclosed use of multiple illegal substances since her first use at 11 years old.
Isabella reports the first time she used methamphetamines was with her mother Martina. Isabella has also disclosed she has had several sexual partners. Isabella states that although she identifies as bisexual, that she is only with men "because they hold all the power." There is speculation that Martina has sexually exploited Isabella, exchanging drugs for sexual favors performed by Isabella. Isabella is currently enrolled in a charter school although she has been reported for truancy and the school is not confident that she could perform Freshman-level work.
