In the poem "The Flea" the narrator talks about his love for a women, but I don't feel as if he is expressing love for the women. He describes as what I would refer to as lust, and he shows that he is interested in sleeping with her.

2. The speaker often uses the flea as a metaphor for sex. When they discuss flea he really is saying he wants to sleep with her, and with them joined as one he saying biting them both and sucking their blood. Described in line 1 and 2 Donnie begins by telling the female how unimportant her virginity is, he continues over and over, and describes the flea is sex between these two lovers.
