Question
Comparison of exercise in a Hot Environment (hot environment, not acclimated vs. acclimated), compare what is happening to the following variables in the two conditions. Be sure to explain WHY there is a difference between the two conditions. I What is happening to core temperature, sweat rate and plasma volume? Heat Acclimation on Thermoregulatory Responses to Prolonged Exercise Comparison of Exercise in a Hot Environment Not Acclimated versus Exercise in a Hot Environmelit Acclimated The purpose of this lab activity is to investigate the effects of heat acclimatization on. thermoregulation and cardiovascular function during. prolonged exercise. Type of Exercise: Prolonged treadmill running Subject: 25-year-old female endurance athlete Use information on graph to answer questions Condition 1: Lab temp 33 C (hot environment and not acclimated to the heat and no fluids given), running 175 m-min for 120 minutes Condition 2: Lab temp 33°C (hot environment acclimated to the heat and no fluids given), running 175 m-min for 150 minutes Data was collected at rest (0 min), 10 min, and every 30-minute periods. Physiological parameters measured: Cardiovascular Measures 1) Cardiac Output (Q) 2) Heart Rate (HR) 3) Stroke Volume (SV) Thermoregulatory Measures 1) Core Temperature (CT) 2) Skin Temperature (ST) 3) Sweat Rate (SuR) 4) Plasma Volume Data Collected: X axis = Time (min) Y axis = Refer to the title of each graph Legend: Blue line = Acclimated. Pink line = Not Acclimated
