Problem: An island in the South Pacific has population of 10,000 beetles with allele frequency p(A) = 0.2. A strong thunderstorm carried in 2000 beetles with allele frequency p(A) = 0.3 from an adjacent island . During that same thunderstorm a crate carrying live beetle samples fell off an airplane onto the island releasing 6000 beetles with allele frequency p(A) = 0.7. All three populations were initially in Hardy Weinberg equilibrium. With reasonable precision, what is the frequency p of the A allele in the final combined population?
