Discussion Post
Now that you have your main idea sentence that articulates an argument, you can construct the rest of your paragraph. The first portion you add is evidence. In academic writing, we paraphrase-putting information into our own personalized voice-to effectively combine that evidence with the overall argument. This week, let's also practice properly citing research using APA format.
In this Discussion, let's practice identifying and paraphrasing evidence in support of the arguments we created. Evidence is what provides the credibility to a researcher's position, and it is what gives us a way to "back up" and support our claims.
Post your initial 1 to 2 paragraphs response that addresses the following:
1. Post your main idea sentence, revised according to any feedback received.
2. What is evidence you can use from the article to support your main idea sentence? Find two pieces of evidence from the article and paraphrase them. Be sure to include an APA citation for any sentences that include paraphrased material.
3. Additionally, reflect on the process of paraphrasing the evidence. Pose any questions and/or explain challenges that came up during the process.
