After 9/11 the National Security Agency ramped up its surveillance activities, which included widespread "spying" on American citizens. The reason offered was that such activities would help prevent future terrorist attacks in the US that might result in serious destruction and death. Why would Kant think that this is not sufficient reason for intruding on the privacy of American citizens?
