1. According to Spears (2010), love from a perspective of a servant leader would lead with love and by love, they are motivated, serve their followers because love is a fore that can change lives of the followers, organization, and life of the leader. Those who are led with love attracts human spirit and it speaks to its followers and that is how love works (Spears, 2010). In my last assignment, I was told to choose a cultural context and a religious view, and I have chosen to write about Taoism. Taoism uses love because love concurs all. When love is involved, more people are motivated to follow and learn how to lead with a good heart. It is very rare to experience a type of servant leadership with love because in my experiences, I have not had very much experience with feeling love with previous managers, so I do not expect a lot from my managers except to only be fair to me. I know that when I do feel love, it is more motivating to get the job done. Love does not mean to always be nice, but to show that you care like what your parents would say because they only mean well. For example, my parents have told me from the goodness of their hearts that they do not want me to stay out late because it can be dangerous at night and that is how they show that they love and care about me even though I would hate coming home early.

2. Servant leadership embodies love and the true spirit of serving. Patterson (2010) explains that the love of leadership is not emphasized sentimentally but rather in ways that support "health, wisdom, freedom, and autonomy of persons". This allows leaders to lead with their heart while creating a connection with others. In return those will reciprocate the same kind of respect, and service along the way. There is no doubt that displaying love can be harder for some than others. However, once obtained these leaders are able to show what it is to be a true mentor and what it is to put others before yourself. Ultimately, followers will be able to feel emotionally connected and increase performance overall.

3. Servant leaders are motivated by love. As a leader, it is important to love those who you are leading. You must really care about them and want what is best for them personally and professionally. Mabe the biggest difference between servant leadership and other models is that love that a leader has for his or her team. As an employee or a follower, that love that you feel is what drives you to go that extra mile. Anyone leader or follower can give an assignement and a due date and expect it to be done by then. But if a follower really feels that loving connection and empowerment they will go that extra mile and give everything they can. Love for a company or your team is what inspires people to go from meeting what is required to going above and beyond.

4. Spirit of consciousness will instill into people the ability to see the bigger picture, to act as they are aware of their own actions and how it will affect the other employees or the company, it can deter fraud, petty theft, or even altercations within the employees because they will be aware of the consequences that not just they will suffer, but the suffering of those around them that such actions will being. Conversely it will also make employees aware of the good they can impart and how they can help others around them within the company. This can lead to a spirit of gratitude, in which can begin a cycle of kindness being paid forward to other for deeds big and small, fostering a more socially resposible workplace culture that cares about each employee. Help in one area will lead to help in another, so on and so forth until each workplace is happy to help another and teamwork is at the core of your workplace culture. Lastly a culture of forgiveness can help with simple things, such as employee retention as it is sometimes easier to quit a job than forgive a sleight. Fostering forgiveness will help keep that sort of problem in check as well as address wider issues that can't be helped, such as having a rough busy season that puts everyone under a lot of pressure, forgiveness can be the key to keeping the operation running where you might have had daily struggles to keep tempers in check.

5. A good servant leader should instill a spirit of consciousness, gratitude, and forgiveness in their organization. This not only benefits their employees but as well as the company as a whole. Instilling a spirit of consciousness allows the team focus on each other instead of themselves. It inspires the leaders and staff to bring out the best in each other. While it is also important for a servant leader to instill a spirit of gratitude and acknowledgement in their organization. By showing gratitude and acknowledging of the success and achievements of their staff, it encourages them to continue to do their best work, and boost's self-esteem. Personally when I have been shown gratitude and acknowledged for my work, I feel appreciated and want to strive to continue to do my best. I have seen co-workers at other organizations I have worked for not receive gratitude and acknowledgement, and their attitude towards their job changes negatively and they don't give it their all, instead they go through the motions. Forgiveness is also important, not only in life but also in the workplace. When a servant leader instills and shows forgiveness it gains the trust of the staff, amongst each other and the leaders. Asking and accepting forgiveness can be extremely difficult, which is why it is not seen that often. Forgiveness keeps both the servant leaders and staff accountable for their mistakes and behaviors. Forgiveness is something that Jesus constantly preached about in the bible; hate the sin not the sinner.

6. According to Spears (2010), forgiveness and gratitude is a theoretical groundwork in consciousness which make up to be a servant leader. A servant leader should instill a spirit consciousness, gratitude, and forgiveness in their organizations because it can be motivational when it is recognized because recognizing them presents a healing presence (Spears, 2010). This is important because a servant leadership needs to show affection, confidence, and love and when they don't, it leads to weakness. We need to be mindful of others in how we tend to treat them, and we must show gratitude to those who are working hard in an organization because it can motive employees to want to work instead of having to push them to work. Forgiveness is very important because have you ever felt better when you just learn to accept your faults and just show love and compassion to someone? I think when you show forgiveness, you are showing that you care.
