Task 1 (1500 - 2000 words)

You are invited by a leading school for a workshop as a resource person. The topic you were given is "How can we help our students for successful achievement of their learning through the effective assessment process during their learning". The organizers expect you to deliver 2-hour lecture presentation with adequate theoretical knowledge, processes, examples, and diagrams as appropriate.

i. Provide a comprehensive account of your presentation. Your write-up should have a strong theoretical approach and focused the following. For more clarity, you can use examples and diagrams as required (No citation required).

ii. Prepare a set of PowerPoint Slides for your lecture presentation

Maximum 15 slides, not more than 6 points per slide. A point should not exceed the line Prepare notes for each point on notes page of the same slide.

Task 2 (1000 - 2000 words)

You have been selected as the Setter for Grade 9 Paper by the Provincial Department of Education. It is the subject you toy are teaching in your school as well. Paper structure is 20 MCQ, 4 structure type questions, and 5 Open Essay type questions. The marks allocation is 30 for MCQ section, 40 for structured essay, and 50 for type questions. Download the curriculum of your subject from www.nie.lk. Explain how you do this. Your explanation should include:

i. Relevance of formative assessment strategies in improving the learning process.

ii. Importance of each item type (MCQ, structure essay, and Open Essay) questions.

iii. The strategies you use to ensure validity.

iv. The strategies you can use to maintain the reliability during.

a. Design phase of the paper.

b. Implementation phase of examination, and

c. Evaluation of answer scripts phase

v. Objectives of 5 MCQ items with related

vi. Respective MCQ items

vii. Identification of the suitability of MCQ items in terms of difficulty index, discrimination index, and distractor analysis.

Task 3 (1000 - 2000 words)

As the class teacher, you observe that there are big disparities between different marks sheets. With the new knowledge of Education Measurement and Evaluation, you intend to remove disparities by converting marks into a single scale. Converting marks into z scale is the method used in Department of Examinations if Sri Lanka. Describe the process you need to follow in converting the classroom marks into a single scale.

Your answer should include the following points

i. The statistical measurements you need for the process.

ii. Obtaining statistical measurements form the mark sheets available in your hand.

iii. Possible conversion scales.

iv. Merits and demerits of each scale.

v. The scale you choose for your class and reason for your selection.
