Assignment:
Digital health data is the information that is generated by a wide array of digital health technologies. These technologies range from mobile health apps such as Apple® Health for personal health and fitness information, to wearable devices such as electrocardiogram sensors that a provider might use to monitor a patient's heartbeat over the course of a day or more, and software to support clinical decision making such as reminders that the provider might use for their patients' preventative care. With the increasing use of mobile health, wearable devices, remote patient monitoring (RPM), and telehealth, consumers and providers have access to more health data than ever before, yet there is concern about whether the distribution and access to this data is equitable and ethical.
You are the IT director of a large health system, and senior management has approached you and asked you to provide a brief presentation to the board of directors regarding the framework that the health system will use for digital health equity. You are asked to provide information pertaining to the social determinants of health, which include the conditions in the environments where people are born, live, learn, work, play, worship, and age, and the digital determinants of health, including individual level determinants, interpersonal level determinants, community level determinants, and societal level determinants. You are also asked to speak to the ethical principles that underlie the use of health data.
Create an infographic that can provide a visual presentation to help your board of directors understand the complexities of digital health equity, including the challenge of access issues and digital health literacy and, the ethical principles and use of health data, and the potential challenges of advancing digital health equity when forecasting future trends in healthcare technology. The infographic must contain the following elements:
- Descriptive title and subheadings
- Informative statistics (valuable, relevant, and accurate)
- Bold, thematically appropriate color schemes (try to align your schemes to your message)
- Eye catching graphics
- Clearly organized, sequential story (a compelling narrative)
- Specially formatted facts (fonts that catch the eye)
