What is an example from your own life or in your workplace, where you have used probability to make a decision?

An example of probability is in my workplace. I factor in daily that all students might not show up to school or if they show up might not make it to class. On a large scale of 50% there will be at least 3 students absent and another 50% chance that at least 3 students will arrive to class late. By me already knowing that this is a possibility, I prepare myself and students. For any absent students they have folders labeled with their names. Inside the folder you will find any missed assignments and a hard copy of the notes for the days missed. The same procedure applies for all late students, but there is a sight difference in this process.
