Inductive reasoning- this helps in math and science subjects. Children during middle childhood become more able of thinking and doing inductive reasoning which means being able to get a conclusion or a final answer to all the questions and concerns a child might have about a certain matter. When inductive reasoning is reached in middle childhood and is improved and developed and encouraged by adults, children become more able to use it and excel at it in school especially in math and sciences. This includes solving for math problems and understanding concepts of sciences.

Working memory- working memory improves during middle childhood and thisis essential for all subjects in school which require understanding and memorization; especially math and sciences. During middle childhood, children begin to remember things and become able to retrieve memories from previous events sothe parents or care givers need to improve this by reading to the child and asking questions more often and have more conversations with them. Also, it is important to practice games that help with developing the working memory as well as improving it. If the child's working memory is developed, he will be able to understand the material at school and will be able to memorize it and therefore, leads to performing better at school and until the reach adulthood. According to the book, during middle childhood, children become faster at processing and easier for them to perform tasks in schools.
