Question: What is a counterargument opposed to my thesis
Consider a counterargument to your own argument. Then, find a source that actually expresses this counterargument - read through it, taking notes on its argument as a whole, its premises, and more importantly, its flaws.
Identify the author and article/source title, and provide a summary of the counterargument
Respond to this counterargument, either through rebuttal, highlighting its flaws, or conceding (finding that middle ground).
My thesis statement on the Opioid Crisis: Doctors, pharmaceutical companies, and insurance companies play a huge role in the opioid epidemic. As a result, patients are often given opioids for conditions that could be treated with other, less dangerous drugs or physical therapy. Unfortunately, this overprescribing of opioids has led to many people becoming addicted to these drugs. Another cause of the opioid epidemic is the illegal use of opioids. Many people obtain opioids illegally by buying them on the street or stealing them from friends or family members who have prescriptions. This illicit use of opioids often leads to addiction, and it can also lead to overdose.
