Write concise instructions that would make it easy for a new health office administrator/ Agent to lookup the expectations to effectively manage personal health information (PHI) in your medical office. Ensure the focus of your instructions is the health office administrator's (HOA/Agent) role.
o Essentially, this is a piece (or a chapter) of an Office Policy and Procedure Handbook. Most employers have a Policies & Procedures book that is directly linked to the inner workings of the office or department. This must be read and is usually updated on an annual basis.
o This is your own personal office. Apply what you have learned in this Module to a hypothetical office of your choice.
• How you create these instructions is up to you. You can have a Word document (500 to 1,000 words), PowerPoint (est 10 slides), Infographic, video, H5P, Sway, etc..
? If you chose a form other than Word document, be sure to include your notes and reasoning for using this form of media. You can record your voice/add audio to any of your submission if you wish.
Include:
• The health office administrator's roles and responsibilities in the lifecycle of a client chart.
• CPSO guidelines for ensuring privacy through proper storage, security, maintenance and disposing of client files.
• Outline the appropriate actions to avoid breach of privacy. PHIPA and PIPEDA implicitly state that policies and procedures must be in place to protect Personal ADMN1380 Module 4 Assignment 2 Health Information (PHI). Use the PHIPA and PIPEDA as your guide and make explicit rules for your own office for the HOA to fully understand what a breach of privacy is, how to avoid it, and what happens if they are caught breaking these rules.
