Question: A cohort study recruits 300 participants to examine the relationship between over-the-counter pain medication and kidney cancer risk. The participants are followed for 10 years and asked to record every time they take pain medication. Every year the participants are asked if they have been diagnosed with kidney cancer. At the fifth annual visit (year 5 out of 10) the researchers realize only 250 participants were responsive. Fifty participants did not show up for their annual visit. What internal threat to validity is this?
