You are a female black student pursuing a career in health care. You are passionate about pursuing a career in health care as a physician assistant. You currently work as a patient attendant at nova scotia health authority in the operating room and are responsible for supporting patient care activities, assisting in the movement and transportation of patients. In 2021 you began working at the veteran's memorial hospital supporting and looking after veterans, serving veterans food and providing emotional support which inspired you to pursue a career in health care because you enjoyed impacting their lives in a positive way. For the very first time you felt you were part of something impactful and positive to your community. You are the first child from your family to get to college, you and your family immigrated to Canada as refugees and your parents are not financially capable of supporting you which has put pressure on you to work two jobs while studying full time. You have faced financial challenges and isolated as a black female student and relatedly new as an immigrant you have lacked support in your career which has sometimes affected your academic performance and mental health. These challenges have made you to become a very resilient person and have empathy towards other people which is also why you want to contribute to the health care system in your community.
