Scenario

You have just gotten a job at a company in your field of study. Your manager has asked you to write an email to your new coworkers to introduce yourself. When you write t his message, think about:

Purpose: What is the purpose of the message? Does your message meet the needs of the audience?

Audience: Who is going to read this message? How does the audience determine the tone and style of the message?

Information: What information does the reader expect? What information should you include in the mesage and what information should you omit?

Tone: Think carefully about the words you use in the message, from the type of salutation to the closing. How will the words you choose affect the audience's impression of the message and of you.
