Problem
You may not have noticed microbes in the news prior to this semester, but they are in the news all the time. Whether it is a story about a disease outbreak, the discovery of new medicines/treatments, or new ways for identification, there can be at least one microbial news story every week of the year! two pages write up addressing part I and part II:
Part I:
1. What is the organism involved in the news story?
2. Be sure to include the proper scientific names and classifications relevant to your microbe
3. What is important for your classmates to know about this news story?
4. Each fact that you include should be backed up with a primary source (i.e. - the scientific articles you researched), textbook, or respected source (i.e. - CDC, FDA, WHO, etc...)
5. Focus on information that would be important for new nurses to know
6. Why was this worthy of making the news?
7. Will there be rumors nurses might have to debunk?
Part II:
Summarize what you have specifically learned and completed for this project, focusing on the content. Things to think about while constructing your summary:
1. What information did you need to research in order to understand your topic? How did you determine which scientific article was appropriate for the project?
2. How useful was the scientific article you selected in the development of this assignment? What information was the most helpful?
3. What did you learn from this project that will be important to remember in the future? Where in the future can you see using this information (i.e. - future courses, future career, in life, etc...)?
