Assignment:
Sam is the educator in the pre-school room. Jake is 5.5yrs. and attends the service full-time, his mother is a single parent and drops him off at 7am and picks him up at 6pm each day.
Jake is mature and independent for his age, he is often quite chatty, talking about his activities on the weekend, how he cooks and goes to the beach etc.
During conversations with Jake on Monday, Sam made the comment "wow you and your mum really do keep busy on the weekends together" to which Jake casually replied, "oh no it's just me, mum has to work".
Sam continued to engage in conversation to confirm that Jake is left alone all day on Saturday and Sunday's and he entertains himself by going to the beach, the park, riding his bike around to his friends and that he cooks/prepares most of his own meals or eats at his friend's house. He said that he isn't scared and is used to it now.
