Question: Discuss other options or why you agree or do not agree, etc. Tutor response must demonstrate that you read the prompt and provide examples and include research support.

My post
In my classroom, this is a common problem. Students have either never been in school or in an MDO or daycare. In the first 3 weeks of school, we set up procedures for everything and really only work on those versus any "real" learning. A lot of what I do at the beginning is teaching children the learning to learn skills.

For talking disruptions we read "My Mouth is a Volcano" by Julia Cook, "Interrupting Chicken" by David Ezra Stein, and "What if Everybody Did That?" by Ellen Javernick. We talk about examples of when we have done that and how we can fix it.

For behavioral things like not sitting, sharing, and hitting/biting. We will read the Elephant Piggie books, We Don't Eat Our Classmates and Teeth are Not for Biting ( There is a whole series of behavior books with different situations for young children). At my school, we also use Conscious Discipline and Great Expectations to help students use strategies to remain in control of their bodies and think about others.
