That day, she learns that she has a terminal disease that will progressively get worse (e.g., paralysis, dementia, pain, etc.) until she dies in the next 6-9 months without treatment. She communicates to you and her attending physician that she doesn't really want to go through any other treatments and is ready to die. So, you go and tell your spouse about what is happening.
