Think through the following situation as it applied to Archimedes Principle which states the buoyant force is equal to the weight of the fluid displaced by an object. A toy boat with an iron weight in it is floating in a tub of water. When the iron is taken out of the boat and put directly into the tub, what happens to the water level in the tub. Think carefully and explain the answer. You have three choices for answers-the water level can go up, it can go down or it can stay the same.
