After watching the clips from Roots, this is from the groundbreaking mini-series 1977. There has been an updated version, but the 1977 version is our point of reference. Dave Chappelle's sketch on Roots.

Lastly, the retelling of Harriet Tubman's story in Drunk History. While some of this may seem irreverent, consider what else may be happening in these retellings.
