What happens after the Sunset Advisory Commission and the legislature both agree that an agency is no longer needed in Texas?

The agency will automatically expire at the Sunset deadline.
The legislature must pass additional legislation formally abolishing the agency.
This is still only a recommendation and must be presented for a 90-day public comment period before any action is taken.
It is up to the governor to make the final decision as to whether the agency is abolished, based on the recommendations of the Sunset Advisory Commission and the legislature.
