This film clip is from the Ken Burns and Lynn Novak documentary The Vietnam War. Vietnam had been a colony of France since the 1880s when Japan invaded in 1940 at the beginning of WWII. The film clip focuses on the WWII alliance between a Vietnamese resistance group called the Vietminh, and the United States in fighting against the Japanese occupation.
