You can find the subject guides listed by discipline/subject here
You can find databases listed by Newspaper and News source here
this link is great if you want to get past paywalls (i.e., access for free)
Based on your exploration, what topic(s) in your field do you find interesting, either in your initial Google searches or from the news. sources you found in the subject guides?
What genres are you seeing employed by professional/advocacy groups to disseminate information about new/emergine/relevant conversations?3. Research log 1 asks you to search for non-scholarly sources and conversations about topics in your field to discover how invested people/groups are addressing issues and calling for action. Pay close attention to the names of these figures, publications, and webpages. Professional and academic organizations often include advocacy work done on behalf of the field. Keep this in mind for later use in the Advocacy Letter Project.
Does your subject guide list one or more professional and/or academic organizations in your field? If so, list 2-3 here and keep them in mind as they often provide accessible sources that will be useful for all three logs.
4. Note how terms are used in non-academic sources of information, such as newspapers, magazines, professional blogs, etc.:
Are these terms complex? Widely accessible? If technical or inaccessible, why might this be?
How are sources referenced or linked? Directly (hyperlinks, citations) or not at all?
